aBOUT ME / EXPERTISE
I didn’t set out tobecome a global communications consultant! Instead, after earnng a degree in Art History and French Literature at Barnard College in New York, I moved to Berlin to learn German and build a career working in museums. A chance encounter with journalist in an airplane changed everything. While I had been studying human behavior through the prisim of art and literature, she was recording history as it was being made. This appealed to my sense of adventure and my desire to meet people from different backgrounds. I spent the next dozen years covering political and social justice issues in Europe, Africa and the US.
In 2007 I joined Greenpeace International in Amsterdam. Journalism was a wonderful career, yet over time I found it increasingly difficult to report on people
I fell in love with Ambrogio Lorenzetti’s Effects of Good Government in the City and the Country in college. The XIVth century fresco (this is small excerpt) is great “development communications”, showing that when government is good, commerce flourishes, people have ample food and shelter, and folks have time to take a break for dance!
And so I joined Greenpeace, where for four years I learned from some of the world’s best campaigners how to create communications strategies that helped tip the balance in a number of campaigns favor of climate protection . I was tapped to handle media outreach and run press

conferences around the world and got to work on
I later moved into director positions at the Financial Transparency Coalition, the Open Government Partnership and the Center for Justice and Accountability and as a member of the senior leadership, in addition to communications I shared responsibility for the organization’s budgets, team building, fund raising, board liason and strategic growth.
